Munster Juvenile Indoor Relays
On Sunday our Boys U11 relay team competed in Nenagh at the Munster Relay Championships. The boys ran in the 2nd of 4 heats knowing only the 4 fastest times would qualify for the final.
Timmy Colbert got the team off to a great start in the 4 X 100m relay, Michael Brosnahan also ran a great leg, Darragh Lynch was our 3rd runner and with a fine run passed to Patrick Cagney who finished very strongly to finish 2nd which was quick enough to qualify for the final. The boys all ran brilliantly again in the final up against very strong competition and finished in 4th place in a very close finish.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Carmel MacDomhnaill on setting a new record at the Munster Indoors in Nenagh last Sunday. Carmel set a new record in the 3000m F60 category.
Well done to Tara Carr. Tara was first home in her category in the County 10 mile championship race which was on St.Stephens day.
Well done also to Pat O Callaghan on completing the Art O Neill Endurance challenge.
Adare 10k
The 2016 edition of the Adare 10k will take place on Sunday February 28th at 1pm.
Race entry will be €20 online or €25 on the weekend of the race. This entry fee will include your chip timing, race t-shirt and a medal. This will be the first Adare 10k medal and will be a collectors item. Walkers can enter on the weekend for €10 and will get a medal only, but not chip timing or t-shirt. This is a great local race and helps raise funds for West Limerick AC. It could be a great race or walk to aim for to complete your first 10k and get a medal for your efforts. We would ask any members or friends or the club not running on the day to consider volunteering as an event of this size needs lots of bodies on the day to help it run smoothly. We will also ask members to help prepare food as in previous years. Thank you to all sponsors already supporting us and if you would like to join us as a sponsor please contact our Chairman Liam Healy on 0877725941.
Registration in person can take place at the Adare Village Hall in the centre of Adare. Saturday 27th from 2pm to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 12.30pm. Entries will not be accepted after 12.30pm on Sunday 28th. Race T Shirts limited to the first 500 people to register online and
the link to online registration will follow next week.
Sprint Teams
Our Chairman Liam Healy is looking for sprinters to represent our club in the senior and masters events. It was great to see the club take part in the sprint events at the Munsters last weekend and we want to build on that. This is open to existing members and any sprinters that may wish to join or rejoin the club, both male and female. Please contact Liam on (087) 772 5941. New members as always welcome.
Training
Club training resumed last Tuesday and we had a strong turnout for both juvenile and adult members. Juvenile training is from 6pm to 7pm on Tuesday at the Newcastle West GAA All Weather Pitch. Children from the age of 6 upwards can train but must be 8 to compete at events. Adults meet to warm up at 6.45pm and train from 7pm to 8pm at the same venue. Membership forms are available on the night. We strongly advise everyone that trains with us to consider joining the club as the very low membership of €30 covers you for insurance while you train for and compete with West Limerick AC at AAI permitted events.
Fit For Life
Our fit for life group will meet at the Courtney Boy’s school @ 6:45pm on Tuesday and Thursdays from 6th Oct. Our fit for life group is a great introduction to running with a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Don’t be shy, new members to the group are always welcome and anyone who wants a bit more information can contact Denis Fitzgerald on 087 3577286 or Sinead O’Shea on 087 2976014.
Membership
Membership for 2016 will remain at €30 and is now due. For new members forms are available at training. Existing members just need to pay the subscription to a committee member. The earlier that you pay your membership the more events that you will be able to part in. When you have paid membership the club will pay your entry into the following events should you wish to take part:
National Track and Field , indoor and outdoor- club will pay for 2 events per athlete,
Munster Cross Country and County Cross Country (Novice,Intermediate and Senior)
Munster Track and Field, indoor and outdoor
