Glendalough Marathon

Noel Fitzgerald headed to Co.Wicklow this  Saturday. 

Fresh from the recent Belfast Marathon he took on the Glendalough Marathon. 

The area is famous for the monastic site founded by St.Kevin. A few prayers may have been said as Noel finished in a great time of 3:41:06.

National 5k

Niall O Callaghan ran the National 5k in the Phoenix Park, Dublin on Saturday morning.

Niall continued the trend of excellent performances from club members as he finished 2nd O40 in a time of 15:53. 

This put Niall 19th overall in a high quality field of athletes.

Buttevant RC 4 Mile

This 4 mile race was held on Friday night. The winner was James Doran in 20.45. Damien Madigan was second in 21.03. 

He was followed closely by club members Declan Guina 21.08 in third  and Karl Lenihan in fourth 21.14.

The top three women were Carol Finn 23.22, Michelle Kenny 23.36 and Breda Gaffney 24.21.

Our other club members running on the night were Pádraig O Donnell 22.55, Mike O Connor 23.55, Colum McCarthy 24.33, Karol Downey 25.34, Gerard Hannon 32.26, Paul Crotty 37.11, Lelia Long 48.01, Mary Healy 48.21, Mary Ita O Connor 48.21 and Patricia Collins 48.21.

West Limerick A.C. were the second team in the prizes. The team was made up of Declan, Karl, Padraig and Mike.

Well done to all.

Bob Heffernan & Mary Hanley 5k

This was the third race as part of the Peugeot Race Series. It was held in Enfield and attracted a large field of 744 athletes.

There were some really quick times posted here. The winner was Eoin Everard in 14:33. Niall Shanahan of An Bru A.C. was second overall in 14:45. Third position was Vinny Connolly in 14:51.

First woman was our own Ide Nic Dhomhnaill in 15:36. Second was Olympian Michelle Finn 15:43. Third was Aoife O Cuill 16:04.

Aogán MacDomhnaill finished in a time of 15:45 and Carmel MacDomhnaill finished in 23:51.

This was some incredible running by Ide, Aogán and Carmel. Congratulations from all in the club.

European 10,000m Cup

Congratulations to our own Íde Nic Dhomhnaill who has been selected by Athletics Ireland as part of a team of seven athletes to compete at the European 10,000m Cup, which will take place in Pacé, France, on Saturday June 3rd.
