Shandrum A.C. 4 Mile
On Thursday evening there was an excellent 4 mile road race across the county border in Newtownshandrum.
Shandrum A.C. were excellent hosts as always , providing some lovely treats and drinks for those who ran this race.
It was a perfect evening for the 4 mile and had over 100 finishers.
First home and fresh from his win in the Mical Rejmer 10 mile was Karl Lenihan. Karl was the clear winner in 21.26. Second was Tomas Kiely, Banteer, in 22.51. Third was Padraig O’Donnell , West Limerick A.C., in 23.09.
The top three ladies were Michelle Kenny, Leevale A.C. 23.11, Breeda McGinn, Donoughmore AC, 25.14 and Isobel Kellegher, Liscarroll A.C., 25.34.
We had a good turnout from our club members. Sean O Sullivan was first O50 in 24.51. Karol Downey had another fine run in 25.21. Karl, Padraig, Sean and Karol were first in the club team prize.
Our other members running on the night were Kevin O Donoghue 26.58, Alan Kehoe 28.33, Shane Quille 28.39, Con Mulcahy 28.55, Richard Lenihan 31.46, Seamus Cawley 32.17, JP Aherne 33.28, Malacky McCarthy 35.18, Niamh Humphries, Mary Healy and Mary Ita O Connor.
Ballintotis 4 Mile
The second race on Thursday night to be held in the Rebel County was also over the 4 mile distance.
This race attracts some high quality athletes and it shows in the evenings results.
Ryan Creech of Leevale A.C. won this race in a time of 19.11. Jake O Regan, St Johns A.C. was 2nd in 19.32 and Ger Forde of Kilkenny City Harriers was 3rd in 19.41.
The top three ladies were Lizzie Lee of Leevale A.C. in 22.04 , Fiona Santry of East Cork A.C. was 2nd 22.31 in and Sharon Rynne of Kilmurray Ibrickane A.C. was 3rd in 23.42.
Representing West Limerick A.C. were Niall O Callaghan 20.46, (14th overall) and Gerard Hannon 32.21.
Niall Shanahan of An Bru A.C. finished in 5th in 19.41. The 3rd,4th and 5th places all finished in 19.41. An incredible photo finish.
Great racing from everyone in this very popular race with well over 800 finishers.
