National Track and Field Championships 2024:
The longest consecutive running national senior track championships in the world took place at Morton Stadium on June 29th and 30th.
It was a fantastic weekend of athletics with championship records, national records and drama throughout.
West Limerick Athletics Club are very proud of our four members who competed on the national stage.
On Saturday in the 5000m Declan Guina finished in a time of 15:45:78 and Killian Lynch in 15:55:33. Both ran great races on a wet day.
On Sunday Aaron Lynch was first up on the track in the U20 3000m. He finished in a time of 9.05.95. It was a great experience and one he will look to build on as he will still be U20 in 2025.
Recent Mini Marathon winner Ide Nic Dhomhnaill was in the mix from start to finish in the 5000m women’s race. Ide won this event in 2023 and finished second this year, taking home a National Silver medal. Her finishing time was 15:48:58.
Well done to all the athletes from Limerick and to all those who train locally at the Limerick Regional Athletics Hub.
