Thursday 14th September 2023 will be a date that will live long in the memory of Athletics people in the communities of Limerick and the Mid West Region. The 8 lane 400m track and field facility which has been built to IAAF European Standards was finally opened.
This is a state of the art floodlight facility and the level of detail and finishing is a huge credit to Limerick City and County Council and to all the workers involved.
An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar officially opened the hub along with our local and national representatiives. There was an athletics exhibition given by members of St Marys A.C. & West Limerick A.C. while Olympians Thomas Barr and Carolyn Hayes were on hand to offer advice. The icing on the cake was the visit of Irish Star Reece Ademola. Reece gave a memorable high jump and long jump demonstration.
We are now entering a new phase for both clubs and the wider athletics community in general. West Limerick A.C. would like to offer our sincere thanks to everyone who has made this dream a reality for us.
