Well done to Kevin O’ Donoghue who took part in the 800m event in the county outdoor track on Monday and finished in an excellent time of 2.37 mins earning him 3rd place overall in his age category. Great running Kevin.
Great Limerick Run Sunday 5th may
Thousands of athletes descended on limerick on Sunday to take part in the Great Limerick Run which is one of the most popular race events of the year.
Weather conditions were perfect for all runners and there were some outstanding performances on the day.We had a large number of west limerick out in force to take part and all did very well earning a lot of well deserved PB’s.
Mike Sheehy lead home the men in the full marathon with a Pb of 2.53 followed by Diarmuid lane with another Pb in 3.13. Michelle lenihan herself had a great run and finished in 4.36 and Niamh humphries In 4.36.In the half marathon we had Liam Hurrell first man through in 1.25 which lead him in 61st position overall and 6th in his age category.Followed by Muiris mcElligot 1.29, Gerard Hanlon 1.35, Con mulcahy 1.39, Michael guiney 1.39, Suzanne Kennedy 1.43 earning another Pb and Alan bunworth 2.14.In the 6 mile we had Sean McAullife first west limerick man in in 37.23, Martin liston 42.35, Noelle ahern 43.05, Mike aherne 58.29, Majella O’ Connor 1.06, Enda o’callaghan 1.02 and Catherine Holmes 1.28.
Fantastic turnout for the club in what was a very enjoyable and successful day out for everyone. Well done to all.
Monagea CRY
Well done to the West Limerick AC adult juvenile members that took part in the 5km and 10km run in Monagea on Saturday. Fantastic turn out for such a great cause. Great to see such community support from everyone.
BK5K – Dundrum
The popular 5k took place last night in Dundrum and there was a grand turnout of 426 runners that took part in the event.
The course itself is a relatively flat one making it a good PB course for athletes.
The race was won by Sean Doyle of north cork in 14.53. We had a good representation of our west limerick crew travel to take part and it was well worth the journey as they all had great performances on the night.
Ian kelly was first west limerick male home in an excellent time of 17.02 earning him 1st place in his age category and 8th place overall. He was followed by Derek Kenrick in 20.08, Catriona lenihan 20.09, Caroline Conroy 20.14, Noelle Aherne 20.26, Maeve Kenrick 23.33 and Carmel MacDomhnaill in 24.54.Caroline Conroy and Carmel MacDomhnaill also won 1st place in their age categories.
A very successful and enjoyable night for our west limerick athletes . Well done to all fantastic running.
Triathlon:
Well done to Carolyn Hayes on another outstanding performance this week taking 2nd place at the African cup in Tunisia. Fantastic achievement well done Carolyn.
Juvenile Training
Due to the large numbers of juvenile members attending training on Tuesdays and Thursdays we will have closed registration to new juvenile members We have reached full capacity in our current facilities and in coaching ratios. We are currently looking for parents and/or people in West Limerick with an interest in athletics to obtain Garda Vetting and get involved with coaching in the club so that we can support our current coaches and offer more training to juveniles in our area. We need your help if we are to continue our juvenile training. West Limerick A.C. will pay for all necessary courses once a commitment is made to join the club and help in the juvenile section of our club.
Our current coaches are Mike Cussen, Tara Carr and Kevin O Donoghue along with assistant coaches Aogan MacDomhnaill, Aine Mawe and Micheal Rowsome.
2019 registration
2019 West Limerick AC registration is still open for adults (over 19) and juveniles , all registration and payments are now online, all members are requested to complete the on line form and make the payment electronically. Adult membership (over 19’s) is €35 and Juvenile membership is €25. The club is no longer using paper forms and/ or cash transactions. Payment for club gear can also be made through the online account.
Adult Training
Senior training for West Limerick AC members continues each Tuesday evening at 7pm on the Astro turf in the Desmene Newcastle West. You must be registered before you can train. There are no exceptions. The €2 fee remains. Non athletics Ireland members will not be allowed take part for insurance reasons. This goes for Juvenile, Fit4Life and Interval training. If you are not a member of the club you will not be allowed train with the club.
AAI Permit Races
In a bid to highlight AAI permit races to athletes we are trying to put a list of permitted races together.

September 15th or 22nd – Novice, Masters and Even age Juveniles XC

October 13th – Senior, Intermediate and Uneven Juveniles XC.
