National Masters Indoor Championships:
The National Masters Indoor Championships was held in Athlone at the TUS International Arena this Sunday.
There were some exceptional performances throughout the day and there was plenty of local interest.
Carmel MacDomhnaill won a National Silver medal in her category in the 1500m (7:27:16). Carmel also ran in the 400m (1:37:01) , finishing first and collecting her second national medal of the day.
Niall O Callaghan and Aogán MacDomhnaill raced in the 3000m.
Aogán was first O40 in 8:48:19 and Niall second O40 in 9:00:59. The boys bringing home National Gold and Silver medals to West Limerick.
Two Gold and Two Silver medals in total coming back to West Limerick.
Some other Limerick related age category results were:
– Ger Cremin (An Riocht A.C.) was the clear winner in 60m Hurdles.
– Annette Quaid (Leevale A.C.) won gold in 200m and 400m.
– Gerard Hartnett (Tuam A.C.) was second O45 in 3000m
– John Higgins (Dooneen A.C.) was 3rd in 200m.
– Shane O Sullivan (Dooneen A.C.) was 1st in 400m.
– Derek Kiely (Limerick A.C.) was 3rd O40 in 1500m. Gary Egan (An Bru A.C.) was 2nd O45 in 1500m.
John Tracey Dungarvan 10 Mile:
This hugely popular club race was held on Sunday morning. West Waterford A.C. always put on an excellent event and this year was no different with over 2000 athletes finishing the race.
William Maunsell was the clear winner in 49:52. Mary Mulhare was the first wiman in 55:46.
We had three club members running. Well done to Noel Fitzgerald 1:06:15, Gerard Hannon 1:25:04 and Ann Gilvarry 1:37:29.
Trail of the Calanques 2023:
Kieran Carr, Martin Lyons, Garry Carroll and Mark Lenihan travelled to Marseille at the weekend to take part in the Trail of the Calanques 2023. The Club Alpin Marseille Provence host this famous regional race every year and this year was its 38th year .
The 4 West Limerick athletes trained on Friday and Saturday in a mountain trail training camp and took part in the a 19km 1000m elevation race on Sunday Morning. Mark Lenihan came second in his age category on Sunday another super performance from Mark.
The club were delighted to see the West Limerick Club Colors represented in the French Riviera.
Save The Date
The annual CRY Monagea walk/run/cycle takes place on April 29th this year. This is always a wonderfully enjoyable event and for such a great cause in memory of Niamh and Darra.
Curtins Londis Adare 10k:
Our annual club 10k is Sold Out since October.

Sundays on the Limerick Greenway.
Starting at 10am from Rathkeale.
Anyone attending any club training must be a current member for 2023.
