Analog Devices adare 10k Race:
The 25TH Year anniversary of the very popular Adare 10k race took place on Sunday. Registrations sold out in a record time this year with all online entries gone by late September . A very impressive 657 runners showed up on the day with weather conditions dry and mild but there was a strong breeze . There was a fantastic atmosphere here with hundreds of spectators out to support and cheer on all athletes.
This year’s race was extremely competitive and it welcomed back some of its past winners from previous years.
There was a quality field display on the day and this reflected in the results with Rory O’Connor of North Connor AC of MC taking the overall race honours and breaking the course record in an incredible time of 30.43. He was followed closely by Sean Hehir of Rathfarnham WSAF AC in 30.53 and Alan O’Shea of Bantry AC in third place in 31.37.
Barbara Cleary led the Ladies home in a very impressive time 36.06. She was followed by Siobhan Doherty of Borrisokane AC in second place in 36.47 and Ide Nic Dhomhnaill of Donore Harriers in 37.20.
We had a large number of our west limerick athletes out in force with some outstanding performances on the day. Declan Guina was the first male athlete to cross the finish line in a fantastic time of of 34.44. This was a PB for Declan’s and his time ranked him well up in a quality field in 11th place overall . Catriona Lenihan was our first lady to finish recording an excellent time of 44.27. This was a PB also for Catriona and it was fantastic to see her do so well on the day.
There was some notable results for all our runners on the day and everyone performed very well. West limerick runners on the day completed the 10k race as follows:

There was a huge amount of work involved in the organising of this years race and it is important to thank each and everyone involved in what was a fantastic and a very enjoyable event.Thanks to everyone on the west limerick committee who made such effort to ensure the success of this event and to each and everyone of our sponsors for this year. Munster U/12 to U/19 Indoor Championships:
Munster U/12 to U/19 Indoor Championship took place on Saturday 23rd , the club had two juvenile members competing in the 60m sprint U12 Tristan Kirwan and U13 Josh Cummins, both boys ran a great race. Well done to them both who have become regulars at the Nenagh track
Connacht Indoors:
On Sunday we had three members run as guests in the Connacht Indoors in Athlone.Colum McCarthy ran 2:06 in the 800m just outside his PB. Aogan MacDomhnaill came 2nd in the 1500m in 4:27 and club captain Ger Guina was 4th in the same race in 4:29.
Fedamore 5k
Well done to Caroline Conroy who completed this course last night in a fantastic time of 20:49 and was First Lady home in the overall race.. great running Caroline.
Michael Guiney ran Derry City park run in a time of 19.57 on Saturday last.
Juvenile Training
Due to the large numbers of juvenile members attending training on Tuesdays and Thursdays we will have to close registration to new juvenile members from today. We have reached full capacity in our current facilities and in coaching ratios.
We are currently looking for parents and/or people in West Limerick with an interest in athletics to obtain Garda Vetting and get involved with coaching in the club so that we can support our current coaches and offer more training to juveniles in our area. We need your help if we are to continue our juvenile training. West Limerick A.C. will pay for all necessary courses once a commitment is made to join the club and help in the juvenile section of our club.
Our current coaches are Mike Cussen, Tara Carr and Kevin O Donoghue along with assistant coaches Aogan MacDomhnaill, Aine Mawe and Micheal Rowsome.
2019 Registration
2019 West Limerick AC registration is now open for adults (over 19) and juveniles , all registration and payments are now online, all members are requested to complete the on line form and make the payment electronically. Adult membership (over 19’s) is €35 and Juvenile membership is €25. The club is no longer using paper forms and/ or cash transactions. It is hoped to have everyone registered by Jan 1st. Payment for club gear can also be made through the online account.
Adult Training
Senior training for West Limerick AC members continues each Tuesday evening at 7pm on the Astro turf in the Desmene Newcastle West. You must be registered before you can train. There are no exceptions. The €2 fee remains. Non athletics Ireland members will not be allowed take part for insurance reasons. This goes for Juvenile, Fit4Life and Interval training. If you are not a member of the club you will not be allowed train with the club.

In a bid to highlight AAI permit races to athletes we are trying to put a list of permitted races together.
