Charleville Half Marathon
The hugely popular Charleville Half Marathon took place on Sunday with a huge turnout of runners from the club. This is one of the faster half marathons in the country and is perfectly timed for those preparing for the Dublin City Marathon in October.
There was a little worry during the week as wind and rain was threatening to affect this event but thankfully this did not materialise and running conditions were near to perfect for the sold out race.
There was a quality field on display on the day and this reflected in the results with John Travers of Donore Harriers AC taking the overall race honours in 1:04:23. He was followed closely in 2nd place by Mick Clohisey of Raheny in 1:04:40 and Kevin Maunsell of Clonmel AC was third in 1:05:14.
Lizzie Lee of Leevale AC was first lady finishing in a time of 1:15:38. Siobhan O Doherty of Borrisokane AC was 2nd in 1:17:14 and Jill Hodgins of Leevale AC was 3rd in a time of 1:20:38.
Declan Guina was the first West Limerick AC athlete to finish in a fantastic time of 1:16:07. Declan’s time ranked him well up a quality field in 39th place. Caroline Conroy was our first lady to finish recording an excellent time of 1:36:17 again placing her well up the final rankings. This was a pb time for Caroline and it is great to see her back to her best.
There was some noteable results throughout for West Limerick AC with the following the full list of finishers from the club:
