Tralee Summer Solstice half marathon and 10k
 

The half marathon and 10k took place on Sunday in some very tough weather conditions for our members. However this did not deter any of the crew who all performed very well.

 Con Mulcahy completed the half in an excellent time of 139.27. He was followed by Ray Mulcahy who earned a well deserved pb in 1.55.06. Noelle Leahy followed in 2.24.36.  Majella O’Connor completed the 10k In 1.07.20.

Great running by all well done.

Summer Solstice Ennis 10k:

 We had 3 club members travel to Ennis on Friday night to take part in the popular Ennis 10k.

 All performed well on night with Mark Ryan, Declan Lynch and Trish Collins.

 Well done to all great running.

Ironman Youghal

A huge congratulations to our members who represented west limerick at the Ironman in Youghal on Sunday. They had to endure some extremely tough weather conditons but all perfomed very well on the day. They all did the club very proud.

Parkrun

Well done to Paul Crotty who ran the Mungret Parkrun in 24.40.

Church Gate Collection:

 Thank you to the people of Rathkeake and surrounding area for supporting our church gate collection last weekend.

The West Limerick AC Club on line shop is now open , take a look at the wide range of club gear now available to be ordered directly from O Neills and delivered to your door.

Note: Singlets and the training t shirts are not available in the on line O Neills shop so as before contact Tara or Kevin for those orders.

 

Shandrum 4 Mile

There was an excellent club race in Newtonshandrum on Friday night. The numbers were up on last year with 154 runners taking part. There was a lovely course which was very well marshalled and Shandrum AC had a very welcome spread of refreshments waiting at the finish line.

The race was won by Shane Simcox of Mallow AC in a time of 21:29 . The first lady was Niamh Moore of Leevale AC in a time of 23:55.

There were some strong races from our club members with Karl Lenihan finishing 3rd overall in a time of 22:26 (pb). He was followed by Declan Guina in 4th 22:33, Kevin O Donoghue 25.47 (pb), Sean O Sullivan 25:51, Con Mulcahy 26:42, Mike MacDomhnaill 27:02, Liam O Sullivan 29:47, Mary Folan Ryan 31:34, Carmel MacDomhnaill 31:51, Malacky McCarthy 33:37, Mary Ita O Connor 39:44, Mary Healy 39:45.

Well done to all and we look forward to the return in 2020.

Dave Fogarty 4 Mile:

Thurles Crokes AC held this race on Thursday night. The race was won by Kevin Maunsell in 21.42. Dympna Ryan was first lady in 24.09.

 Club member Micheal Guiney continued his very impressive form to finish as first over 35 and set a new PB of 24.25.

Adare 10K 2020

We will be planning over the next few months but you can save the date 23.2.2020

Online registration will open in October.

  

Adult Training

Senior training for West Limerick AC members continues each Tuesday evening at 7pm on the Astro turf in the Desmene Newcastle West. You must be registered before you can train. There are no exceptions. The €2 fee remains. Non athletics Ireland members will not be allowed take part for insurance reasons. This goes for Juvenile, Fit4Life and Interval training. If you are not a member of the club you will not be allowed train with the club.

 

AAI Permit Races

In a bid to highlight AAI permit races to athletes we are trying to put a list of permitted races together.

 10th Anniversary Banna 10k Run and 5k Fun Run, Sunday,  4th August at 9:30 a.m..

Curraghchase 10k August 11th – see Curraghchase 10K Run/Walk

September 15th or 22nd – Novice, Masters and Even age Juveniles XC

Limerick Mini Marathon – Sept 29th – Limerick

October 13th – Senior, Intermediate and Uneven Juveniles XC.
