Grange 5k:

On Good Friday Ray Mulcahy travelling to Sligo and ran in this 5k race which was organised by North Sligo AC. Ray finished the race in 22:59.

Ballybunion half marathon and 10k

We had a number of athletes travel down to ballybunion on Saturday to take part in the half marathon and 10k event. Weather conditions were ideal and there was a huge turnout of over 500 runners on the day. The course itself is quite a challenging one with the route leading out the Beale road however quite a scenic one on a day like yesterday. In the half Gerard Hanlon lead home west limerick in a great time of 1:38:59 followed by Joanne Maharg in 1:52:15, Michelle lenihan 2:08:58 and Niamh Humphries In 2:19:35. In the 10k John O’ Connell crosses the finish line in 44:46 and Tara Carr in 51:50.Excellent running by all well done everyone.

Carney 10k

Micheal Guiney had a very active weekend on the running scene. He followed up an impressive Parkrun on Saturday with a finish of 43:58 in the Carney 10k in Sligo. Interestingly he finished just behind former Cork marathon winner Zola Flynn, daughter to famous miler Ray Flynn.

Boherbue to Kiskeam 4 Mile:

Bank holiday Monday saw 121 runners take on the Jack O Keeffe 4 mile race.

This excellent race was organised by Gneeveguilla AC and they deserve huge credit for the juvenile races which were held pre-adult race. West Limerick A.C members Katie & Amy Lenihan and Cian & Fiona Mulcahy all competed and ran very well and brought home some awards for the trophy cases.

Weather conditions made for a very sunny, hot race. The temperatures didn’t affect the front runners with Sergiu Ciobanu winning in 19.24. First woman was the very talented Niamh O Mahony of An Riocht AC. Expect to see a lot of this young athlete in the coming years.

Declan Guina continued his fine form with a 5th place finish in 21:55. There was a sprint finish between Kevin O Donoghue 27:53 and Con Mulcahy 27:54. They were followed very closely by Catriona Lenihan 28:16. Catriona won a category prize.

It was a fantastic day out and Gneeveguilla AC reminded us to keep an eye out for their upcoming one mile race series.
