Leeanne Bennett RIP
 

All at the club were extremely saddened to learn of the untimely death of our dear friend and West Limerick AC teammate Leeanne Bennett.  To Leeanne’s family we offer our sincerest sympathies. May she rest in peace.

Curraghchase 10K Run/Walk
The Curraghchase 10K took place on Saturday last and there was a fine turnout of over 400 runners. The race was initially scheduled for the Sunday but was rescheduled to facilitate those travelling to Dublin for the hurling final. Michael Guiney was our first runner to finish in a time of 43:53. Michael was followed by Kevin O Donoghue 47:03, Bryan Hartnett 54:32 and Willie Costello 70:27. Well done to the organisers on another successful and well organised event.
Kilcock 10 Mile
Mark and Catriona Lenihan travelled to Kilcock in Co. Kildare on Sunday last to compete in the Kilcock 10 mile. Both continued their excellent recent form with Mark finishing in 1:03:05 and Catriona finishing in 1:15:58.
 
Liscarroll 10K
 
Karl Lenihan had another podium finish on Friday evening last in the Liscarroll 10k. Karl’s time of 37:19 was enough to secure third place overall. Sean O Sullivan and George O Sullivan were our next runners to cross the line in 40:23 and 40:26 respectively. Liam O Sullivan completed the West Limerick contingent finishing in a time of 46:10. Well done to all.
 
Country Club 5K
Limerick Country Club AC held their inaugural 5K Road Race on Friday 17th August. This AAI permitted event was part of the Ballyhoura Active Series.
A total of 58 runners took to the start line  with the hurling final weekend and a number of other local races no doubt impacting on numbers. Audrey o Dwyer was our sole representative on the night covering the 5k distance in 24:10.
Newcastle West Couch To 5K
Our Couch to 5K is going very well with big numbers each week. Everyone is enjoying it and the progress since day 1 has been exceptional. The group will continue to meet every Tuesday and Thursday in the Demesne from 8pm to 9pm.The goal is that each participant will complete a 5k in September. The 5K has now been chosen and will be the An Ríocht 5K in Castleisland on September 7th.
Cross Country Season
 
The cross country season is approaching quickly and this year West Limerick AC will be hosting the Senior, intermediate and uneven ages  on Saturday October 6th in the Desmense, Newcastle West. The start time of this event is to be confirmed. Bilboa AC will be hosting the novice, masters and even ages on Sunday October 14th.  Only registered club members can participate in these championship events.
Adult Training:

Our Tuesday night senior training sessions in the Desmense will return on the 4th of September after the summer break.

Club Meeting

Our next club meeting will take place on Wednesday August 29th at The Rathkeale House Hotel. All club members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
All Ireland Champions
 
Congratulations to the Limerick senior hurlers on a fantastic performance that saw them crowned All Ireland Champions on Sunday. They are an exceptional team and deserving winners of The Liam McCarthy cup.
