Tralee 10 miler and 5k
The Tralee 10 mile and 5k road race took place on Saturday and we had a number of west limerick athletes who travelled down to take part and support the event. This course runs along the outskirts of Tralee and is relatively flat with a few short elevations along the way. Weather conditions were nice and mild for the grand turnout of over 300 runners on the day. In the 5k race we saw Ian Kelly make a very welcome return to action after a long spell out with injury. He completed the course in an excellent time of 18.55 which lead him 5th place overall. He was followed by Catriona Lenihan who lead the West Limerick ladies and was second female to cross the finish line in 21.29, Rita brouder who was third female in 22.16 and Joanne kelly in 24.52.
In the 10 mile race we had Gerard Hanlon who was first west limerick athlete to cross the line in a excellent time of 1.13. He was followed by Dave Wrenne in 1.27, Raymond mulcahy 1.29, John Collins 1.30 and Noelle Leahy In 1.32. Excellent performances for all our athletes.. well done everyone.

Due to the large numbers of juvenile members attending training on Tuesdays and Thursdays we will have to close registration to new juvenile members from today. We have reached full capacity in our current facilities and in coaching ratios.
We are currently looking for parents and/or people in West Limerick with an interest in athletics to obtain Garda Vetting and get involved with coaching in the club so that we can support our current coaches and offer more training to juveniles in our area. We need your help if we are to continue our juvenile training. West Limerick A.C. will pay for all necessary courses once a commitment is made to join the club and help in the juvenile section of our club.
Our current coaches are Mike Cussen, Tara Carr and Kevin O Donoghue along with assistant coaches Aogan MacDomhnaill, Aine Mawe and Micheal Rowsome.

The Analog Devices Adare 10K 2019 sold out in October and there are no more entries available. Last year we had nearly fifty volunteers and we will need the same again for this race. The 25th anniversary of our road race will take place this Sunday February 24th at 1pm. As this is our 25th anniversary we are looking forward to welcoming back our previous male and female winners from past races. The entry field is very competitive with some notable names such as Sean Hehir, MIchael Harty, Alan O Shea, Declan Moore, Paul Moloney, Barbara Cleary, Grace Lynch, Carolyn Hayes, Siobhan O Doherty, Ide and Sorcha NicDomhnaill. These runners amongst others will all be challenging to win on Sunday.
