Kildare Thoroughbred Half Marathon:

We had two members take part in this multi distance event on Father’s Day. Kate Murray and Edel Henriques ran the half marathon which passed through the Irish National Stud and many more Stud Farms in the area which are synonymous with Irish horse racing. Kate set a new PB finishing in a time of 1:45:43 and Edel followed up her Bilboa 10k with a finishing time of 1:53:14.Well done ladies.

Run with Ray 5K

Niamh O’Mahony one of our juvenile athletes took part in the Run with Ray 5k, Niamh completed it in just over 26 minutes. Niamh is a great runner, attends weekly training with the club and is a regular at the park runs in NCW on Saturday’s, her times are coming down all the time due to her drive and commitment to athletics. Watch this space a lot of PBs in store for this young runner in the future .

Castleisland Munster Championships

Four of our juvenile athletes went to Castleisland Munster Championships on Saturday- Josh Cummins U13 60m, Tristan Kirwan and Aideen Riedy U12 80m, and Ciara Riedy U16 100m. Well done to them all , it was a great end to the season and we are very proud to have them representing our club at this level. Thanks to all the kids and their families. Have a great summer see you all in August.

Ballyheigue Half on the Head:

We had two members running in the half marathon. Con Mulcahy (1:42:09) and Ray Mulcahy (1:59:00).

 

Ballyheigue 10k:

Ian Kelly was third finisher in the 10k in a time of 37.06.

Well done to all on what was a tough day for racing.

Church Gate Collection:

Thank you to the people of Rathkeale and surrounding area for supporting our church gate collection this weekend.

Parkrun News

We had a number of members running around the county Parkruns on Saturday.

Mungret – Micheal Guiney 18.57 (PB), Noelle Aherne 21.50, Sheila Clavin 22.45, Paul Crotty 24.08.

Limerick – Patricia McNamara

Newcastle West  – Patricia Gayer, Bushra Farah, Aine Browne, Aine Mawe.

Bilboa AC 10k:

Friday nights race in Cappamore saw Paul Moloney take the win in 31:35. Declan Moore was second with our own Karl Lenihan third in 36.51. Miriam Byrne was first woman in 41.57.

Our other club members running on the night were Edel Henriques 48.35, Richard Lenihan 52.26 and Malacky McCarthy 54.07.

International Triathlon:

Well done to Carolyn Hayes who had another outstanding performance at the weekend winning silver in the Nur- Sultan World cup. Fantastic achievement for Carolyn.

Adare 10K 2020

We will be planning over the next few months but you can save the date 23.2.2020

Online registration will open in October.

Juvenile Membership

Due to the large numbers of juvenile members attending training on Tuesdays and Thursdays we have closed registration to new juvenile members for 2019. We have reached full capacity in our current facilities and in coaching ratios. We are currently looking for parents and/or people in West Limerick with an interest in athletics to obtain Garda Vetting and get involved with coaching in the club. If this is done we will be able to increase the numbers that can take part and we can offer more training to juveniles in our area.  West Limerick A.C. will pay for all necessary courses once a commitment is made to join the club and help in the juvenile section of our club.

Our current coaches are Mike Cussen, Tara Carr and Kevin O Donoghue along with assistant coaches Aogan MacDomhnaill, Aine Mawe and Micheal Rowsome.

2019 registration

2019 West Limerick AC registration is still open for adults (over 19) , all registration and payments are now online, all members are requested to complete the on line form and make the payment electronically. Adult membership (over 19’s) is €35.The club is no longer using paper forms and/ or cash transactions. Full details and link to registration are on our website, Facebook and Twitter pages.

Payment for club gear can also be made through the online account.

Adult Training

Senior training for West Limerick AC members continues each Tuesday evening at 7pm on the Astro turf in the Desmene Newcastle West. You must be registered before you can train. There are no exceptions. The €2 fee remains. Non athletics Ireland members will not be allowed take part for insurance reasons. This goes for Juvenile, Fit4Life and Interval training. If you are not a member of the club you will not be allowed train with the club.

AAI Permit Races

In a bid to highlight AAI permit races to athletes we are trying to put a list of permitted races together.

10th Anniversary Banna 10k Run and 5k Fun Run, Sunday,4th August at 9:30 a.m..

Curraghchase 10k August 11th – see Curraghchase 10K Run/Walk

September 15th or 22nd – Novice, Masters and Even age Juveniles XC

Limerick Mini Marathon – Sept 29th – Limerick

October 13th – Senior, Intermediate and Uneven Juveniles XC.
