Limerick County Cross Country
The Limerick County novice, masters and uneven ages took place on Sunday with Bilboa AC again the hosts for these events. We had a good turnout of athletes across all categories. Caroline Conroy O Malley was our big winner on the day running a super race to take 1st place in both Novice and Masters. Caroline has had a great return to form in recent months and securing two gold medals on Sunday was a fine achievement. Carmel Mac Domhnaill secured another county medal for the club winning her category and ensuring a very good day overall for the West Limerick ladies.
West Limerick AC also secured a number of medals in the men’s events in both novice and masters. We took bronze in the team event in the novice with Declan Guina, Karl Lenihan, Sean o Sullivan and Michael Guiney our point scorers on the day. The remainder of our team was made up of Declan McCarthy, Colum McCarthy, Eoin Mcauliffe, Liam o Sullivan, Kevin o Donoghue and Malachy McCarthy all who ran well.
In the masters Karl Lenihan won his category with a very strong performance. Michael Guiney took 3rd in his category as did Sean o Sullivan. Malachy McCarthy kept the medals coming taking 3rd in his category and we also took 3rd masters team with Karl Lenihan, Sean o Sullivan, Michael Cussen and Michael Guiney scoring the points followed closely by the rest of our masters team, Declan McCarthy, Liam o Sullivan, Kevin O Donoghue, Bryan Hartnett and Malachy McCarthy.
Our underage athletes also did the club proud with Tristan Kirwan running a very impressive race in the u11 boys narrowly missing out on a medal finishing in 5th position overall. Katie Lenihan had a great race in the u9 girls finishing well up the standings. Saoirse O Donoghue also ran in the u9 event watched proudly by her dad club chairman Kevin and Izzy Liston made up the West Limerick quartet on the day running very well in the u11 girls.
Well done to each and every one of our runners on the day.
