Listowel Half Marathon & 10K 
 
The Kerry Crusaders Listowel half marathon and 10k event took place on Saturday last in the North Kerry town.  Running conditions were perfect with the weather cool and dry for the runners. It was therefore no surprise that both course records fell with Freddy Stukk returning to break the half marathon record in 1:11:05 and Donal White breaking the 10k record in 34:38. For West Limerick AC It was great to see Mike Sheehy and Kevin Kelly back running in the green and white again with both opting for the half marathon event. Mike Sheehy produced an excellent run to finish just outside the podium positions in a time of 1:20:56. Kevin Kelly has had a difficult year with injuries but certainly appears to be progressing back to fitness finishing in a time of 1:36:05. Kevin was followed by our only West Limerick lady in the half marathon Tara Carr who had a fine run to finish in 1:53:35. Tara was followed over the line by Malachy McCarthy who ran solid and consistent throughout crossing the line in 1:59:24.
John Barrett was our first runner to finish in the 10k event in a time of 49:31. John was closely followed by Mary Folan Ryan in 51:43 and Majella o Connor in 1:18:21. Well done to all.
Munster Cross Country
West Limerick AC had 2 athletes competing in the Munster Men’s Senior XC in Turnpike, Two Mile Borris in Tipperary on Sunday,
Micheal Guiney & Eoin McAuliffe.
Micheal finished very strongly competing in his first Munster Cross Country for West Limerick AC  but Eoin unfortunately had to pull out midway with injury. Well done to both Michael and Eoin.
 
Analog Devices Adare 10k 2019 
 
The Analog Devices Adare 10K 2019 sold out   last Thursday in record time so unfortunately we have no further places left.
The 25th anniversary of our road race will take place on Sunday February 24th at 1pm. Registration is limited to 850 participants.
The course remains the same as the past few years and we are delighted to announce that we will have race day t-shirts and a finishers medal for all 850 participants.
The race has an Athletics Ireland permit, the course is accurately measured by Jones counter and race timing will be provided by MyRunResults. Entry is for over 18’s only.
As this is our 25th anniversary we are looking forward to welcoming back our previous male and female winners from past races.
 
Adult Training
 

Senior training continues each Tuesday evening at 7pm on the Astro turf in the Desmense Newcastle West.  New members always welcome.

We are delighted to welcome Ger Cremin as our new adult head coach. Ger has a wealth of athletics experience and enthusiasm to get us moving faster as we aim for our new year goals. Ger will begin in the new year.
As a club we will be aiming for County 4 mile and Munster 4 mile championship races in particular.  There is also our Adare 10k and the Great Limerick Run. Training plans will be available on request for club members.
Only registered members will be able to attend club training. The €2 fee remains. Non athletics Ireland members will not be allowed take part for insurance reasons. There will be no exceptions at any stage. This goes for Juvenile, Fit4Life and Intervel training.

Juvenile Training

Juvenile training continues on the astro turf in the Desmense, Newcastle West at 6pm each Tuesday evening and on Thursday evening at the community centre Newcastle West. Juveniles have to be 6 years of age to take part in training and 8 years to compete in competitions. Parents are required to be present for the duration of training which is one hour. New members are always welcome.

2019 Registration

We will be moving our West Limerick AC club registration online for 2019 membership. We want to have all members registered for Jan 1st. Full details will follow once it is live. There are new forms to complete and these will be online also. 2019 registration is €35 Adult and €25 Juvenile.

Church Gate Collection

Our annual church gate collection in Newcastle West takes place on the weekend of Saturday December 1st and Sunday December 2nd. Any persons available to assist please contact club chairman Kevin o Donoghue on 085 7462413

Club AGM

Our club AGM is set for Friday November 30th in The Rathkeale House Hotel at 8pm.

Save the date

Our club Christmas party 2018 will be on Saturday December 8th at the Silver Dollar Bar Newcastle West. More details to follow.

Juvenile Christmas Party

Christmas party for our juvenile members and families will take place in the community centre Newcastle West on January 6th More details to follow.
