Doon 10K

The Struggle 10K and 5K run took place on Sunday in Doon Co. Limerick. There was a Bilboa one two at the top of the leaderboard with Declan Moore taking the race honours from teammate John Kinsella in second place. West Limerick were to take third place on the podium with Karl Lenihan having a fine race to finish in a time of 38:40.

Dingle Half Marathon

Mike Sheehy made a welcome return to action at the Dingle Half Marathon recently. Mike had a very solid race to finish in an excellent time of 1:24
An Ríocht 5K

Aside from our large contingent of couch to 5k runners in Castleisland on Friday night we were also well represented on the night by Declan Guina embarking on his first race in a number of weeks. Declan finished comfortably inside the top 10 on the night crossing the finish in a time of 16:41.
Newcastle West Couch To 5K
Friday night in Castleisland was the culmination of 12 weeks of training for our new runners. Our club coaches Denis Fitzgerald, Tara Carr, Mike Cussen, Bryan Hartnett, Martina Ahern, Sean McAuliffe, Aine Mawe, Suzanne Kennedy and Kevin O’Donoghue set out to get the community in Newcastle West and surrounding area more active. We regularly had sixty people training in the Demesne and there was always a fun element to help guide, encourage and support all runners. It was a pleasure to train together every Tuesday and Thursday as everyone was so positive about the whole experience. At this stage almost all of our training group have graduated to completing 5k races. The Parkrun in Newcastle West has been a regular race for our runners. The main target of the training was this past Friday where over forty of our group ran in the An Ríocht 5k. All who attended ran very well and when they finished they stayed to cheer on all of their new friends to  the finish line. There was a great sense of camaraderie between everyone. Our coaches could not be any prouder of everyone.
Now that we have completed our twelve weeks we welcome everyone to join us as a member in West Limerick A.C. Members of all levels meet to run as a group in the mornings during the week and at the weekend or we would welcome any help if we are ever looking for volunteers for our Adare 10k race in February.

Most importantly we want to see everyone continue being active. The 5k race should be your starting point and not your finishing point.

(Please note that to train further with West Limerick A.C. you will need to pay membership to be covered by insurance. This covers both Fit4Life and Interval group trainings.)

Finally we want to thank everyone for making our sunny summer of 2018 a memorable one.
