Club Notes 08/10/2018

Cross Country

The county Senior and intermediate cross country took place on Saturday last in Bilboa with West Limerick AC well represented in the men’s events. Our team of Declan Guina, Sean Cunningham, Ger Guina, Colum McCarthy, Michael Guiney and Eoin Mcauliffe all represented the club very well with Declan securing 1st place in the intermediate standings and Sean Cunningham 3rd. West Limerick AC took second team in both the senior and intermediate.
It was great to also see the club so well represented at underage with Josh Cummins , Keelin Carr, Rebecca Brouder, Sarah Benson and Maria Cagney all in action on the day. Sarah Benson unfortunately pulled up injured in the course of her race and we wish Sarah a speedy recovery. All performed very well on the day with Maria Cagney taking 3rd place in the girls U14 race. The cross country races are a great learning curve for all these young athletes and they deserve huge credit for taking on the challenge. Well done to all.

Karl was followed by Mark Purcell keeping well under the 40 minute mark in 39.19, George O Sullivan 40.45 and Michael Guiney 44.16.
Niamh Mulcahy had a great race posting a new personal best time of 45.19 in leading home the West Limerick ladies. Niamh was closely followed by Kate Murray 47.58, Audrey o Dwyer 50.27, Carmel Mac Domhnaill 50.57 and Noelle Leahy 51.47.

The Galway Bay Marathon and Half Marathon took place on Saturday and two of our West Limerick ladies made the trip to the West for this popular scenic event. Jeni O Regan took on the full marathon distance and completed the 26.2 mile course in 4h 17 mins. Maeve Kenrick ran the half marathon finishing in a time of 1h 57. Well done to both Jeni and Maeve.
