Gneeveguilla AC Open Sports Day:

Open juvenile sports took place today at An Riocht track hosted by Gneeveguilla AC .

Tiny tots 40m race was run by the Fiadh O Donoghue with Daddy watching on very closely !

Under 6 40m was run by Emily Kirwan she was super fast and she got a medal for her great effort.

Under 7 50m was run by Roisin O Donoghue her first time on the track and she ran a great race.

Under 9 50m was completed by Joseph Carr , Ellen Cagney and Leyna Cussen . Leyna made the final heat and ran a fantastic race again .

U10 60 m was completed by Rafe Cussen and Saoirse O Donoghue.

U12 80m was run by Tristan Kirwan and he came first and then he completed the 600m and won first place with a fantastic run he was way ahead of the rest and paced the run perfectly.

U15 80m and 800m was run by Maria Cagny and she won a prize in her places in both races.

It was fantastic day out and the lovely weather helped , thank you to all our juveniles we are very proud of you and also thank you to the parents for their continued support .

Glounaguillagh Run

On Sunday our Juvenile runner Cian Mulcahy won the 1km run near caragh lake in time of 4:30. Fiona Mulcahy came 5th in 5:25. Con Mulcahy ran the 10km race in 44:36 to complete the family day out.

Run Clare 10 Mile:

Well done to Mary Folan Ryan and Ide Curtin who travelled to the banner county and ran in Sunday’s 10 mile race.

Lough Boora Half Marathon:

Well done to Marcella McGrath who continues her good form to finish as 15th woman in Sundays race in a time of 1:41:47.

Prague Half Marathon:

West Limerick A.C. members had the Irish flag flying in Czech Republic today for the Prague half marathon. A very tough course on cobblestones made this a character building race and one to be remembered. Well done Trish and Mark Purcell and Audrey O Dwyer.

Parkrun:

Micheal Guiney had another good Parkrun today. He had a time of 19.29 in the Parkrun 5k in Sligo.

Quest Glendalough Adventure Race:

Ger Dore and James Dalton took part in the Quest Glendalough Adventure Race on Saturday, taking over 5 and a half hrs to complete the 59k course of running, cycling and kayaking. Well done to both.

Juvenile Training

Due to the large numbers of juvenile members attending training on Tuesdays and Thursdays we will have closed registration to new juvenile members We have reached full capacity in our current facilities and in coaching ratios. We are currently looking for parents and/or people in West Limerick with an interest in athletics to obtain Garda Vetting and get involved with coaching in the club so that we can support our current coaches and offer more training to juveniles in our area. We need your help if we are to continue our juvenile training. West Limerick A.C. will pay for all necessary courses once a commitment is made to join the club and help in the juvenile section of our club.

 

Our current coaches are Mike Cussen, Tara Carr and Kevin O Donoghue along with assistant coaches Aogan MacDomhnaill, Aine Mawe and Micheal Rowsome.

 

2019 registration

2019 West Limerick AC registration is still open for adults (over 19) and juveniles , all registration and payments are now online, all members are requested to complete the on line form and make the payment electronically. Adult membership (over 19’s) is €35 and Juvenile membership  is €25. The club is no longer using paper forms and/ or cash transactions. Full details and link to registration are on our website, Facebook and Twitter pages.

Payment for club gear can also be made through the online account.

 

Adult Training

Senior training for West Limerick AC members continues each Tuesday evening at 7pm on the Astro turf in the Desmene Newcastle West. You must be registered before you can train. There are no exceptions. The €2 fee remains. Non athletics Ireland members will not be allowed take part for insurance reasons. This goes for Juvenile, Fit4Life and Interval training. If you are not a member of the club you will not be allowed train with the clu
