Churchtown 5 Mile
The final race of the Ballyhoura Active Series 2018 took place on Friday evening last in Churchtown, Co. Cork. Hosted by local club Churchtown Road Runners AC this 5 mile route attracted a crowd of almost 170 runners. West Limerick AC members have been making good use of the Ballyhoura series throughout the summer using the series to plan their summer racing and set themselves summer targets. On Friday evening we again had a number of our athletes involved. Sean O Sullivan was our first athlete home completing the five miles in a time of 31:57. Sean has been racing regularly recently and has shown very steady progress throughout the summer. Michael Cussen followed for West Limerick in a time of 32:13. Michael is getting a few races under his belt again which is great to see. Liam O Sullivan has been a regular attendee at Ballyhoura series races in 2018 and again on Friday Liam had a good race with a time of 36:32. Liam was closely followed by Malachy McCarthy who finished in a time of 39:42. Well done to all.
Dooneen At The Racecourse
Dooneen AC hosted the inaugural Munster mile and 5K race on Sunday at Limerick Racecourse. This was a flat fast course and some very good times were posted. Paul Crotty was running for West Limerick and completed the 5K in a time of 21:47. By all accounts this was a great event which will no doubt establish itself firmly on the Munster running calendar in the next few years.
