Christmas Party:
On Saturday night we headed to DP.Lyons bar in Abbeyfeale. Everyone that attended had a great night. We would like to thank  club member JP Aherne on hosting such an enjoyable night and for sponsoring the food and the entertainment. We had our end of season awards presented on the night. Liam Healy was on hand to present the Fit4Life award to Denis Fitzgerald. Denis is instrumental in helping people in leading a fitter and more active life. Denis has started a couch to 5k group this year and also organised the Parkrun 5k races in the Demense on Saturday mornings. Denis has had a very positive impact in peoples lives and is always available to help. The awards for most improved athletes went to Martina Ahern and Declan Guina. Their results for 2016 were excellent and improved throughout the year. Both were very deserving and worthy winners and are a credit to their coach John Scanlan. Finally the Athlete of the Year for 2016 went to Thomas Roche. Thomas has excelled in track and field this past year, competiting in county, munster and in nationals. Tom regularly wins medals in shot putt, long jump and sprints. He has been training with Dave Frattaroli of Limerick AC and has continued to improve his skills. He is relatively new to the events and we hope that Thomas can improve further in 2017 and beyond. While not everyone can win an award there were some excellent individual results in 2017. It was a rare week that there was not a member setting a  new pb in some race around Ireland. We hope that 2017 will see more improvement and setting of more pbs for all members.
