West Limerick AC Notes 1st October 2016
Dublin Marathon 2016
This Bank holiday Sunday saw a record 19500 people take on the challenge of the 26.2 mile Dublin Marathon. It is now the fourth largest marathon in Europe and is known as the friendly marathon. The support of the people along the route was simply amazing. The support from WestLimerick AC members for fellow members running on Sunday was outstanding. Every few miles on the course there was a familiar face roaring on encouragement. It helped our members drive on when energy levels were low and as a result we had some amazing results and pbs set in Dublin. Here are the provisional times from Athletics Ireland.
Ian Kelly led us home in an incredible time of 2:50:17. Martin Lyons continued his remarkable first year with the club to finish 2:55:27. Carolyn Hayes was 10th woman in the National Marathon with a time of 3:06:10. Liam Hurrell 3:06:47 , Kevin Kelly 3:13:13 , Mark Lenihan 3:20:27, Peter O Mahony 3:29:21, Seamus Cawley 3:35:19, Brendan O Carroll 3:39:20, Dympna Lawlor 3:52:28, John Mulcahy 3:52:55, Joanne Kelly 3:58:26, Derek Mackessy 4:17:10, Paul Crotty 4:14:41, Patricia McNamara 4:17:42, Martina Ahern 4:21:25, Karen O Brien 4:21:36, Diarmuid McCarthy 4:23:43, Kevin O Donoghue 4:26:54, Mikey Mackessy 4:54.
Well done everyone.

You can train together in groups suited to whatever level of ability you have and enjoy yourself while doing it.

Juveniles are from 6pm to 7pm. Parents are asked to accompany their children into the all weather pitch and collect from the same spot after.
Adults are training on the all weather pitch from 7pm to 8pm. Please have your warm up done beforehand. The session begins at 7pm sharp.
It is €2 per person for the adult session. There is no charge for the Juvenile session.
New and returning members are always welcome in both Juvenile and Adult training. The interval sessions are a good way to stay fit and increase your speed during the winter months in a safe well light area.
