Juvenile Munster Indoors
Over the course of Saturday and Sunday in Nenagh we had numerous members of West Limerick take part in the under 13 to under 19 age group. Chloe Brosnahan ran in her first U14 800m race and finished 13th with a time of 2:48. In the U17 girls Grace O Donnell ran 800m in 2:46 and finished 6th and also went on to run 1500m on Sunday in a time of 5:54 finishing 6th. Sophie Moroney ran 800m and finished 8th in a time of 2:50. Kate Downes ran 1500m in 6:08 finishing 7th.
UL 5k Running Series
The very popular UL rowing club 5k series was in week 3 and Caroline Conroy continued her return to form with a time of 20.51. It is great to see Caroline back competing again. Brendan O Carroll was also running in a time of 21.36.
Coaching Course
We are looking for more help with the training and coaching within the club. Liam Healy is seeking members with a genuine interest in the coaching of both the senior and under age setup to complete an assistant coaching course. Anybody interested can contact Liam on (087) 772 5941 who will give you the full details.
A child protection course will take place in The Woodlands Hotel Adare on the 17th of February. Anybody in the club that once to complete same can contact Liam Healy on (087) 772 5941.
We are asking parents of juvenile members to get involved also with the juvenile training. A rota will be made up with people asked to volunteer one night a month. Please contact Liam should you wish to make yourself available. We need parents to volunteer or training can not take place as we will not have the required coaches/volunteers available to help.
Adare 10k
The 2016 edition of the Adare 10k will take place on Sunday February 28th at 1pm.
Race entry will be €20 online or €25 on the weekend of the race. Online entry closes on Thursday night and with over 300 registered so far is it advisable to register as soon as you can. This entry fee will include your chip timing, race t-shirt and a medal. This will be the first Adare 10k medal and will be a collectors item. Walkers can enter on the weekend for €10 and will get a medal only, but not chip timing or t-shirt. This is a great local race and helps raise funds for West Limerick AC. We would ask any members or friends or the club not running on the day to consider volunteering as an event of this size needs lots of bodies on the day to help it run smoothly. All West LImerick members running or helping out are asked to bring some food for the athletes on the day. Sandwiches, buns or whatever you can whip up are welcome. Thank you to all sponsors already supporting us and if you would like to join us as a sponsor please contact our Chairman Liam Healy on 0877725941.
Registration in person can take place at the Adare Village Hall in the centre of Adare. Saturday 27th from 2pm to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 12.30pm. Entries will not be accepted after 12.30pm on Sunday 28th. Race T Shirts limited to the first 500 people to register online.

Sprint Teams
Our Chairman Liam Healy is looking for sprinters to represent our club in the senior and masters events. It was great to see the club take part in the sprint events at the Munsters last weekend and we want to build on that. This is open to existing members and any sprinters that may wish to join or rejoin the club, both male and female. Please contact Liam on (087) 772 5941. New members as always welcome.
Club Gear
Liam Healy has new club gear available in various sizes. There are new hoodies available at €35 and new Beanie Hats at €10. Liam also has all current training gear and new waterproof gear on the way.
Training
Juvenile training is from 6pm to 7pm on Tuesday at the Newcastle West GAA All Weather Pitch. Children from the age of 6 upwards can train but must be 8 to compete at events. Adults meet to warm up at 6.45pm and train from 7pm to 8pm at the same venue. Training costs €2 for all adult club members and is free for the juvenile members. Membership forms are available on the night. We strongly advise everyone that trains with us to consider joining the club as the very low membership of €30 covers you for insurance while you train for and compete with West Limerick AC at AAI permitted events. If you are a member of another athletics club and wish to train on Tuesday you are welcome to train with us.
Fit For Life
Our fit for life group will meet at the Courtney Boy’s school @ 6:45pm on Tuesday and Thursdays from 6th Oct. Our fit for life group is a great introduction to running with a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Don’t be shy, new members to the group are always welcome and anyone who wants a bit more information can contact Denis Fitzgerald on 087 3577286 or Sinead O’Shea on 087 2976014.
Membership
Membership for 2016 is €30 and is now overdue. If you are competing for West Limerick you will need to pay membership. For new members forms are available at training. Existing members just need to pay the subscription to a committee member. The earlier that you pay your membership the more events that you will be able to part in.
Your membership also covers you for insurance when taking part in club training. The membership is extremely good value for money and we would strongly encourage every person that takes part in the club training to join for the 2016.
Club Website
The all new website now live and is looking very well. The web address is https://www.westlimerickac.ie/test/

If you have results or news for the club notes please email kevinodonoghue@gmail.com or text Kevin 0857462413 or Declan 0876332808. If you compete in a race but do not send in results they will not be in the notes. Pictures from races are always welcome.
