West Limerick AC
Tralee International Marathon
There was two race distances on Saturday with a half and full marathon on offer for the participants.
From the club we had David Wrenn and Norman Paddle 4:10:37 complete the 26.2 mile distance. Derek Mackessy completed back to back marathons in Tralee on Friday and Saturday. In the half marathon we had Ian Kelly 1.23.56 , Kevin Kelly 1:32:15, Declan Guina and Martina Ahern with a great pb of 1:53:50. Great running by all.
A contingent of West Limerick and An Bru athletes took flight to the principality of Monaco for a 15 mile race. The photos did not make us jealous at all. On this warm weather racing trip were Tara Carr, Ide Curtin, Trish Purcell, Audrey O Dwyer and Mark Purcell. It was great to see this group flying the Irish Flag abroad.
Congratulations to the very talented brothers Seamus and John Paul O Connell who finished 1st and 2nd in the 33k Quest Ireland Killarney Adventure Race last weekend.
Monaleen 5k: This race on Sunday was won by club speedster Sean McAuliffe.
Our next club meeting takes place on Friday April 1st at 8pm in the community games building in Rathkeale. A review of the Adare 10k will take place. If you are a member and have something to contribute please come along and do so.

The upcoming Munster 4 mile novice, senior and masters road championships will take place on Sunday April 3rd at a Co.Clare venue. Our Limerick County 4 mile Novice and Senior championships are on April 10th and will be hosted by An Bru AC. last years race was hosted exceptionally well and you can expect the same this year. The womens race is down to start at 11am and will be followed by the mens at 11:30am. Please contact team captains Declan Guina and Martina Ahern to confirm availability. Championship races are very important and it is imperative that we get our best teams available out on the day. Your entry to the races is covered by the club but you must have your 2016 membership paid up.
Liam Healy has new club gear available in various sizes. There are new hoodies available at €35 and new Beanie Hats at €10. Liam also has new waterproof gear in stock also. €80 for the set. For any club gear please contact Liam on 0877725941
Juvenile training is from 6pm to 7pm on Tuesday at the Newcastle West GAA All Weather Pitch. Children from the age of 6 upwards can train but must be 8 to compete at events. Adults meet to warm up at 6.45pm and train from 7pm to 8pm at the same venue. Training costs €2 for all adult club members and is free for the juvenile members. Membership forms are available on the night. We strongly advise everyone that trains with us to consider joining the club as the very low membership of €30 covers you for insurance while you train for and compete with West Limerick AC at AAI permitted events. If you are a member of another athletics club and wish to train on Tuesday you are welcome to train with us.
Fit For Life
Our fit for life group will meet at the Courtney Boy’s school @ 6:45pm on Tuesday and Thursdays from 6th Oct. Our fit for life group is a great introduction to running with a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Don’t be shy, new members to the group are always welcome and anyone who wants a bit more information can contact Denis Fitzgerald on 087 3577286 or Sinead O’Shea on 087 2976014.
Membership for 2016 is €30 and is now overdue. If you are competing for West Limerick you will need to pay membership. For new members forms are available at training. Existing members just need to pay the subscription to a committee member. The earlier that you pay your membership the more events that you will be able to part in.
Your membership also covers you for insurance when taking part in club training. The membership is extremely good value for money and we would strongly encourage every person that takes part in the club training to join for the 2016.
The all new website now live and is looking very well. The web address is http://www.westlimerick–ac.
